I seem to recall Cadillac/GM redesigned the valve covers that may have lessened the oil intake among other improvements. My CTS coupe has 20K miles and is nearing it's third oil change. Each of the first two oil changes occurred at 7K mile intervals with a quart of oil needing to added at around 5K miles into that interval.

Since they are rather limited in availability these days, I was interested in purchasing a 2012 or 2013 Cadillac CTS. However, after reading CTS forums from different automotive sites such as Edmunds.com regarding engine seizing/ high oil comsumption problems with previous years of the CTS, I'm now apprehensive about buying a 2012/2013 CTS.

CTS stands for Catera Touring Sedan. Lots of info and instructions available on timing belt replacement etc under these make and models, especially the Catera. It is amazing how this great engine was dissed so much in the Catera. In Opel Omega form it was regularly used in taxi cabs and police cars for 3-400k miles in Europe with regular maint.
