The reason is due to a design flaw in the piston rings, which are prone to clogging up with carbon deposits. As a result, the oil control ring can no longer scrape oil back into the crankcase, resulting in high oil consumption.

Mack/Volvo commonly used a Davco 382 for many years. The specified micron rating is 25. However, you can get a 382 filter that will fit the assembly in 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 50 micron ratings.

Just purchased a licence and VOE adapter to test out some configurations for my car. Wondering if anyone got some experience or recommendations? For those who don't know: OrBit is a 3rd party program for newer volvos, that allows you to configure almost every car settings and behavior. Also has basic service and maintenance functions.
