Having owned an F80 M3 base, an F80 M3 CS and currently a G82 M4 Competition, here is my take. The G80 and G82 are identical from a performance standpoint, so comparing to my G82 instead of the G80 applies. F80: A little lighter, subjectively less polarizing styling, unhinged and loose rear end for a more raw experience.

M3 and M340i are two completely different cars in terms of driving and street connection for technical reasons (suspension, axes, diff, etc.), which is why it does not and will never make sense to throw them in the same pot.
